Comedian Hospitalized with Brain Injury and PTSD After Brutal Bike Crash

Luisa Omielan, a BBC star and stand-up comedian, faces a grim reality after a catastrophic bike crash. The 43-year-old was rushed to A&E three times, diagnosed with a minor brain injury, Post Concussion Syndrome, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after slamming her Lime bike into a brick wall, resulting in a broken nose.

In a video update, she revealed, "Everything is going to be fine, but I have had a minor brain injury and have been diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome and PTSD." The severity of her condition has left her reeling.

Luisa described the hospital visits as having "knocked her sideways." She also mentioned her dog Bernie is facing health issues, stating, "My sweet Bernie is also having some health issues at the moment because we are twins and do everything together." The bond between them is evident as they both navigate their respective challenges.

She expressed the difficulty of maintaining momentum when life throws curveballs. "These past few weeks have been incredibly challenging, but I’m grateful that there’s a clear path forward now. I just need to focus on recovery," she stated.

Luisa has canceled several upcoming performances to prioritize her healing process. She acknowledged the kindness of strangers during this tough time, saying, "With everything that’s happened over the last four weeks, every time I’ve needed help, someone has stepped in." This support has been crucial for her.

Her faith in humanity has been restored through these experiences. "If you ever wonder whether to offer someone a hand, I’d always rather someone ask than walk past," she emphasized.

Currently, Luisa is unable to create content or work. She mentioned her Patreon as a vital source of income while she recovers. "It is my only income until I’m well enough to plan and deliver shows," she explained.

Gratitude pours from her as she thanks her supporters: "I am so grateful to my gang for helping me through this time. Thank you all for the love and kindness." She expressed regret for canceling shows but is eager to return as soon as possible.
