Dallas Cowboys Safety Markquese Bell Busted on Felony Drug Charges
Markquese Bell, a safety for the Dallas Cowboys, found himself in legal trouble after a traffic stop in Prosper, Texas, late Friday night.
The 27-year-old player was taken into custody just after 10:00 p.m. local time on April 10, as reported by the Prosper Police Department. Officers initiated the stop near Prosper Trail and the Dallas Parkway.
During the stop, an officer detected the smell of marijuana emanating from Bell's vehicle. A subsequent search, based on probable cause, uncovered less than 2 ounces of marijuana along with a THC e-cigarette.
As a result, Bell was charged with possession of a controlled substance—a felony—and marijuana possession, classified as a misdemeanor, in Collin County where he was arrested and subsequently jailed.

He was released from the Collin County Detention Facility the following day, April 11, according to jail records.
Details surrounding the arrest remain sparse. In a statement to media outlets, Bell’s agent, Deiric Jackson, remarked, “Certainly let Markquese have his day like anybody else.”
The Cowboys organization is aware of the incident but has opted not to comment publicly at this time. Requests for statements from both the team and Jackson went unanswered on Saturday.
Following this incident, Bell may face disciplinary action from the NFL under its personal conduct policy.

Bell joined the Cowboys as a rookie free agent from Florida A&M University in 2022 and participated in all 17 games during the last NFL season, starting three of them.
This arrest comes over a year after he signed a lucrative three-year contract extension worth $9 million with the team.
