Dave Portnoy Ready to Challenge ‘Clown Politicians’ Like NYC Mayor Mamdani
Dave Portnoy, the Barstool owner, is eyeing a political run, fueled by his disdain for the current leadership in New York City, specifically targeting Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
“I would love to run against him. If I were gonna run, it would be here,” Portnoy declared during an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

Once dismissive of politics, Portnoy’s frustration with “dummies” in power has him reconsidering his stance. “I spend a lot of my day losing my mind with what’s happening, especially in New York,” he stated.
He unleashed a tirade against the Democratic Party, condemning the rise of leftist socialists who have recently triumphed in elections under its banner.

Portnoy remarked, “What the Democrats have done is they’ve let the fox into the hen house. And now he’s just running rampant and kicking them all out,” a clear jab at Mamdani.
Last Tuesday, three far-left Congressional candidates endorsed by Mamdani ousted their establishment Democrat rivals in the primaries.

Portnoy’s interest in politics fluctuates daily. Some days, he feels no urge to dive into the political “mess.” Other days, he feels compelled to act. “Sometimes, I do feel like it’s my duty. I can’t turn away. I feel like I could make a change. Maybe I do run in politics,” he said.
Claiming his experience gives him an edge, Portnoy asserted he’s had “a real job” and “done real things.”

“Unlike these clown politicians who have never had a job and who’ve never been in the real world for a day,” he added, dismissing the qualifications of current leaders.
When asked about his chances in New York, Portnoy admitted uncertainty. “Can I win here? I don’t know. I don’t know the demographics, if I could get enough votes,” he confessed.
“There’s a lot of people who like me in New York City. I know that,” he concluded.
