The 44-year-old artist disclosed her health battle when asked about her gratitude, stating, “Well, first of all, I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, and I’m so grateful to God.”
Nivea confirmed she is undergoing treatment and expressed optimism about her recovery, saying, “I’ve been going through treatment, and everything is going great so far. And I expect it to continue. Amen, amen, amen.”

Despite the cancer diagnosis, the “Danger (Been So Long)” singer conveyed a strong sense of appreciation for life. She told host Mr. Brian Freeman that her experience has shifted her perspective significantly.

“It’s so cliché to say you don’t know the time nor the hour, but it’s true and it just helped me put a lot of things in perspective,” she said. “I live in gratitude, like, religiously, and I’m just grateful for everything.”
Leukemia affects the body’s blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and lymphatic system. Nivea did not specify which type of leukemia she is battling.

“I’m doing things I wanna do,” she declared. “I’m definitely back into my music, and I’m going to school for audio engineering. I’ve always wanted to learn how to engineer, and mixing engineering in particular.”
Nivea emphasized that she continues to engage in activities she loves, including spending time with her children.

The Grammy nominee was previously married to Terius “The-Dream” Nash from 2004 until 2008. They share a daughter, Navy Talia, and twin sons, London and Christian.

Additionally, Nivea has a son named Neal with rapper Lil Wayne. She rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like “Don’t Mess With My Man,” “Laundromat,” and “Okay.”
“And just being grateful and taking every opportunity that comes my way,” Nivea expressed enthusiastically.

In 2023, Nivea discussed her family’s encouragement while pursuing love on Peacock’s dating reality series “Queens Court.”
She recounted telling Lil Wayne about her participation, noting his supportive response: “Oh, wow, do your thing. I know it’s going to be a great experience.”

Nivea described The-Dream’s excitement about her television appearance: “Dream was like, ‘Oh, wow, this is crazy. You’re gonna make everyone laugh!’”
