Ed Harris Rages Over ‘Dutton Ranch’ Experience, Threatens to Walk Off Set
Ed Harris unleashed a torrent of frustration during filming for ‘Dutton Ranch,’ declaring, “Get me the f—k out of here,” as he felt sidelined and underutilized.

The actor, known for his role in ‘Apollo 13,’ revealed he was misled about his character’s significance. He was promised a central role but found himself feeling inconsequential.
Production for the second season is set to kick off on January 15, with Harris reportedly kept in the loop about developments. Sources indicate he has been confirmed for the upcoming season.

Harris, 75, expressed dissatisfaction with the first season, stating he was ready to leave midway through filming. He felt his character, Everett McKinney, a Vietnam veteran and veterinarian, was not given the depth he was led to expect.

He confronted producers about feeling underused, claiming he was told he would be one of the four main characters, which turned out to be untrue.
In a particularly frustrating moment, Harris recounted how a scene featuring him singing was cut from the show. He had been promised a moment to shine at the bar, only to see it vanish in the editing room.

The scene involved him being encouraged to sing by fellow cast members, but it was deemed “too up” for the dark tone of the episode. This decision infuriated him to the point where he considered voiding his contract.

“I [was like], ‘F—k you people,’” he stated bluntly, expressing his anger over the situation.
Despite his grievances, Harris later admitted that he was satisfied with the final product, calling it “pretty good.” He felt his contributions were important to the story, even if the process left him feeling otherwise.

‘Dutton Ranch’ features a cast that includes Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, and Finn Little. The series premiered on May 15 and concluded its first season on July 3.
Paramount+ renewed the series for a second season on June 24, celebrating its status as the biggest original series launch in the platform's history.
