Meghan Markle’s On-Set Demand Sparks Fury in ‘MasterChef Australia’ Judge

Jul 23 2026

Meghan Markle’s on-set demand has ignited chaos, leaving “MasterChef Australia” judge Poh Ling Yeow visibly upset.

During her guest appearance, Yeow mistakenly referred to Markle as “royalty,” despite explicit instructions from Markle and her team to avoid that term, according to reports.

“We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before but no one like this,” Yeow stated in a promotional clip. “All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia … the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle!”

Markle reportedly felt “very frustrated” by Yeow’s slip, which in turn left the judge feeling upset.

“It wasn’t about Meghan personally,” an insider revealed. “Poh felt she had been unintentionally drawn into a royal protocol issue she never intended to be part of.”

A second source claimed that Yeow, 52, wanted to apologize directly to Markle, 44, but was discouraged from doing so.

“She was willing to reach out immediately,” the source said. “But she was advised to leave it for production to handle.”

Meanwhile, a third source indicated that some moments from filming will not air due to personality clashes between Yeow and Markle.

“Poh is full of energy — she’s always joking and lifting the mood. She tried to bring that same spark with Meghan, cracking a few playful lines, but not all of it landed as intended,” the insider insisted.

The moments that didn’t resonate were cut during editing.

However, a source close to Markle claimed that the duchess and Yeow “had a great time together on set.”

The source added, “There was no frustration on Meghan’s side about anything that was said on set.”

The “Suits” alum filmed the episode while visiting Australia earlier this year.

The couple traveled down under in April for public speaking engagements and philanthropic events.

During this trip, the Duke of Sussex, 41, discussed his decision to step back from his role as a senior working royal at the InterEdge Summit.

“I was like, ‘I don’t want this job. I don’t want this role — wherever this is headed, I don’t like it,’” Harry explained.

Markle and Prince Harry, who married in 2018, stepped away from royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, with their two children: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Markle's episode of “MasterChef Australia” airs Sunday on Network 10 and 10 Play in Australia at 7 p.m. AEST.
