Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has officially filed to erase “Pitt” from her name, a shocking move that underscores the deep family rift following her parents' split.
The 18-year-old submitted her petition in Los Angeles Superior Court, seeking to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

Marcheline Bertrand, Jolie's late mother, passed away in 2007 after battling ovarian and breast cancer, a fact that adds weight to the name change.
In court documents, Vivienne cites “personal” reasons for the change, a vague but pointed declaration.

Amid this legal maneuvering, a source claims this reflects “complete and total parental alienation,” describing it as “awful, deliberate and unnecessary,” suggesting it serves only one parent's twisted agenda.
Another insider close to Angelina Jolie insists that she is not fighting or angry; she simply wants healing for the family. The source claims that if the public knew the full story, they would have more sympathy for the children.

This name change is the latest twist in a saga that has dragged on since Pitt and Jolie's highly publicized divorce in 2016.
The couple finalized their divorce in December 2024 after more than eight years of legal battles initiated by Jolie in September 2016.

They share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
Several of Vivienne's siblings have already taken similar steps to distance themselves from the Pitt name.

Shiloh successfully petitioned a Los Angeles court in May 2024 to remove “Pitt” from her last name shortly after turning 18.
Maddox filed legal paperwork in May 2026 to drop “Pitt,” also citing personal reasons.

Before his filing, Maddox had begun using “Maddox Jolie” professionally, including credits for the film “Couture,” where he worked as an assistant director while his mother starred.
On June 9, Zahara filed to change her name from Zahara Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Jolie.

Knox appeared to distance himself from the Pitt surname before Vivienne's filing; he used “Knox Jolie” on his high school diploma after graduating from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles.
A source revealed that Knox celebrated his graduation with Jolie and his siblings Pax and Zahara, along with Vivienne.

Vivienne had already publicly dropped her father’s last name in May 2024 when credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders,” which she helped produce with her mother.
Pax maintains ties with his father's extended family despite a strained relationship with Pitt. He recently dined with them to celebrate his cousin Sydney’s engagement.

According to an insider, Pitt’s sister, Julie Pitt Neal, and other relatives were present at the gathering.
However, another source noted that while Pax still connects with his paternal relatives, he has “not much of a relationship with Brad.”
Representatives for both Pitt and Jolie have not responded to requests for comment.
