Jacob Elordi's Shocking Dual Heel Break That Axed His Cannes Appearance

Jul 22 2026

Jacob Elordi shattered both his heels earlier this year, a brutal injury that yanked him from his role as a juror at the Cannes Film Festival.

“I jumped off something,” he disclosed to Colman Domingo, his co-star from “Euphoria,” during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

He tossed in a quip, likening the situation to “Fight Club,” referencing the film’s infamous rule: “You do not talk about fight club.”

The timing of his accident coincided with the airing of Season 3 of “Euphoria,” leading fans to mistakenly believe his cast was part of his method acting for the character Nate Jacobs.

“I was in a cast and a moon boot the same time that Nate was getting his digits cut off,” he explained, as viewers found humor in the coincidence, joking about his commitment to the role.

In the latest season, Nate suffers a brutal beating at the hands of Armenian businessman Naz (Jack Topalian), who gruesomely cuts off several of Nate’s toes before ultimately killing him.

Topalian previously revealed that there’s a specific scene where his character takes pleasure in mutilating Nate, using a “prosthetic” toe for Elordi during filming.

“The clippers that they gave me have pretty sharp edges,” Topalian noted, emphasizing the need for caution while filming. “If I squeezed a little too hard, it would literally cut his toe.”

Despite the tension, he confirmed, “Everything turned out well! There were no mishaps, no accidents.”

In May, it was reported that Elordi was out of contention for a juror position at Cannes 2026 due to his recent foot injury.

An insider revealed that the 28-year-old actor had broken his foot, prompting organizers to seek a replacement judge for the festival.

The final jury included notable figures such as Demi Moore, Stellan Skarsgård, Ruth Negga, Isaach De Bankolé, along with writer-directors Chloé Zhao, Diego Céspedes, Laura Wandel, and screenwriter Paul Laverty.
