Elon Musk's Bizarre Red Carpet Antics Go Viral Amidst Criticism

Jun 28 2026

Elon Musk's antics at the 2022 MET Gala have gone viral, with a resurfaced clip revealing the business mogul's bizarre poses and gestures that left viewers questioning his charisma.

The video captures Musk repeatedly raising his arms wide and rolling his shoulders, seemingly attempting to impress photographers. His mother, Maye, appears amused by his antics, laughing as he strikes multiple expressions.

Maye took to X to comment on the clip, stating that she convinced her son to walk the red carpet with her, claiming, "Elon didn’t want to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala. I convinced him to walk with me. Then he stole the show. It was so much fun."

However, the online response was far from positive. Critics on X labeled Musk as 'uncharismatic' and 'uncool,' with one user bluntly stating, "The most uncharismatic guy of all time. I’m not even saying that just to hate; he is truly just uncool and embarrassing."

Another user remarked on the absurdity of the situation, saying, "People ooing and ahhing at his inane gestures. Not because they’re funny, but because he’s rich. So rich that nobody has the nerve to tell him how asinine he looks because they hope he tosses a crust of bread to them. Pathetic."

One more comment highlighted Musk's wealth juxtaposed with his social life: "Elon being the richest person alive is so perfect. The best proof that no amount of money matters if you have zero charisma or likability. 14 kids and they all hate him. No real friends. What a sad life."

In a separate incident, President Trump sparked health concerns after mistakenly referring to Elon Musk as "Leon" while discussing the new Air Force One gifted by Qatar.

During the unveiling of the presidential plane, Trump boasted about its advanced communication equipment, stating, "We have communication equipment up there that nobody's ever seen before. It’s the highest level, including Starlink, my friend Leon—my friend Elon is going to be very happy."

Social media users quickly seized on Trump's slip-up, mocking him for mispronouncing the name of a man who once called himself the "first buddy." One user quipped, "If you’re Leon, are you more worried the dementia’s taking hold or that the guy you thought was your puppet doesn’t even know your name?"

Trump's blunder added another layer of absurdity to an already bizarre week in celebrity news.
