On May 16, Chalamet allegedly reached out directly. Their first meeting occurred during the early pandemic months at a beachfront property in Santa Monica, where he was staying after leaving New York. Tena described feeling nervous initially, but the two quickly connected over wine and music.
“He played me a few songs,” Tena recalled, noting that he was preparing for his role in an upcoming Bob Dylan biopic. “I was like, ‘That’s so cool.’” Their chemistry was immediate, leading to a mix of romance and friendship that developed over time.
“With Timothée, we just clicked,” she said. “We were both attracted to each other. It also turned into a friendship.” Tena described him as a gentleman, emphasizing his genuine nature and sense of humor. Their relationship evolved into a pattern of seeing each other every couple of months, with Chalamet often inquiring about her daughter and even considering a visit to her hometown of Portland.
Despite never explicitly stating her feelings, Tena admitted she fell “in love” with Chalamet. Their last in-person meeting occurred in New York City, where she gifted him a bracelet similar to one she wore. However, she did not anticipate it would be their final encounter.
On January 5, 2023, Tena sent Chalamet a belated birthday message on Instagram. He liked the message but did not respond further. Just weeks later, reports emerged linking him romantically to Jenner.
