Fox News Host Challenges Colleague’s ‘Radical Left’ Assertion with Compelling Evidence
On Tuesday, Fox News host Jessica Tarlov confronted her colleague's assertions regarding political violence, presenting a series of statements from former President Donald Trump to illustrate that the issue is not solely a Democratic concern.
During a segment of “The Five,” Kayleigh McEnany claimed that inflammatory remarks from Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, contribute to political violence. Dana Perino added that “the extreme left” is radicalized through online platforms.
Jeffries had previously referred to “maximum warfare” in the context of political redistricting just days before a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, prompting the Trump administration to attribute political violence to Democratic rhetoric.
“This feels like a significant gaslighting moment,” Tarlov remarked to McEnany. “The comparison to Hakeem Jeffries is quite unfair. He’s discussing redistricting, not targeting individuals or Republicans.”
She further stated, “You assert that Democrats labeled Donald Trump a threat to democracy — which is true. He still refuses to acknowledge the 2020 election results, and many in his party follow suit due to his persistent lies.”
Tarlov, the sole liberal voice on “The Five,” consistently seeks to clarify misconceptions and challenge her conservative co-hosts on their often perplexing claims.
On Tuesday, she emphasized that the president holds a crucial role in shaping national discourse. Tarlov pointed out instances where Trump has made outrageous comments, such as celebrating the death of Rob Reiner.
“Or remarking ‘good riddance’ about Bob Mueller,” she continued. “And you think you can list things Democrats have said? Donald Trump has called Democrats ‘the enemy within,’ ‘communist,’ ‘marxist,’ ‘fascist,’ ‘radical thugs,’ ‘vermin,’ ‘garbage,’ ‘traitor,’ ‘sick,’ ‘party of hate,’ ‘evil,’ and ‘satan.’”
Trump has employed these terms to rally his supporters against what he perceives as threats from Democrats and “the radical left.” In a recent “60 Minutes” interview, he stated, “I do think that the hate speech of the Democrats, much more so, is very dangerous ... for the country.”
However, data indicates that political violence is predominantly perpetrated by right-wing extremists.
A 2024 study conducted by the National Institute of Justice revealed that far-right attacks continue to surpass all other forms of terrorism and domestic violent extremism. This information was accessible on the Justice Department's website until its discreet removal in September.
“The responsibility lies with all of us, but it must begin at the top,” Tarlov asserted on Tuesday. “I concur with Charlamagne [Tha God] that this is a conversation Republicans need to engage in if there’s any hope for unity in our country.”
