Tom Hardy's alleged firing from MobLand has stirred up a storm, but Helen Mirren is all in for the actor, declaring she'd work with him “in a f***ing heartbeat.”
In a recent interview with Variety, Mirren, 80, made it clear that she stands by Hardy, 48, despite the swirling rumors about his behavior on set.
“Absolutely. In a f***ing heartbeat,” she stated when asked if she would collaborate with him again. Her admiration for Hardy runs deep; she called him “the most amazing actor” and expressed her understanding of different acting methods.
Mirren emphasized that she respects the unique processes actors employ to deliver stellar performances. “Different actors have different processes. I’ve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster,” she explained. “As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there.”
Hardy’s alleged antics made headlines last month, with reports claiming he was fired from the Paramount+ series due to his behavior during filming. The third season of MobLand remains unconfirmed, while season two is set to air later this year.
A report from Puck in May suggested that Hardy was let go after season two wrapped, citing issues like tardiness and attempts to alter the script. Sources claimed he was late to set and even refused to leave his trailer for hours.
Contradicting these claims, Variety reported that Hardy “was not fired.” A production insider stated that “the door is not closed for season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.”
Neither Hardy nor Paramount has publicly addressed the allegations. Attempts to reach representatives for Hardy, Paramount+, and MobLand producer 101 Studios have gone unanswered.
In response to the unfolding drama, Mirren took to Instagram on May 28, posting a photo of Hardy with a heartfelt message: “Love you now and always, Helen.”
In MobLand, Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family in London. The cast also includes Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, and Anson Boon as members of the Harrigan family. Guy Ritchie serves as the executive producer and director of the series, with Hardy also taking on an executive producer role.
