Iran Strikes US Military Bases in Kuwait and Bahrain Amid Escalating Tensions

Jun 28 2026

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps declared a series of retaliatory strikes on US military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain, claiming to have “destroyed eight important US military facilities” at the Ali al-Salem base and the Fifth Fleet naval base in Port Salman.

The US had earlier conducted strikes, escalating the ongoing cycle of attacks between the two nations. Kuwait reported attempts to intercept incoming attacks, stating that “any explosions that may be heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile targets.”

In Bahrain, air raid sirens blared as officials urged residents to “remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.” The US maintains significant military presence in both countries.

By approximately 10 p.m. New York time, reports indicated no US casualties or major damage to bases following the missile and drone barrage, although the situation remained fluid.

Iran issued a defiant statement on social media, warning that “any enemy aggression, whatever the pretext, even against insignificant targets… will have a crushing response.”

This aggressive rhetoric followed President Trump's threats against Iran, warning that continued tit-for-tat attacks could lead to a military response. Trump stated, “There may come a point when we are no longer able to be reasonable, and will be forced to militarily complete the job that we very successfully started. If that happens the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!”

This situation is rapidly evolving. Further updates are anticipated as events unfold.
