Jeana Keough Mute and Battling for Life Amidst Tongue Cancer Nightmare

Jeana Keough, a former reality TV star, is unable to speak as she endures the grueling effects of tongue cancer treatment.

Her daughter, Kara Bosworth, revealed on Instagram that “right now, Jeana isn’t talking.”

The pain in her tongue and throat, combined with the radiation-induced mucus, is described as “brutal.” Bosworth added, “Poor mama has to spit into tissues all day.”

Updates on Keough’s condition have been frequent since her cancer diagnosis was announced earlier this month. Bosworth recounted a visit to Florida where Keough first mentioned a painful spot on her tongue.

Initially, Keough thought a tooth was causing the discomfort and visited the dentist multiple times to have it filed down.

However, the situation escalated when they discovered the painful spot had persisted for “nearly a year.” A biopsy confirmed their worst fears: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.

At that point, Keough had already undergone two surgeries, including one to remove lymph nodes. Unfortunately, the cancer had already metastasized, and she has been in treatment for over a month.

“She’s strong through this,” said her son Shane. Bosworth expressed confidence in her mother’s resilience, stating, “I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life.”

The situation took a turn for the worse when Bosworth revealed that Keough had to pause her treatment after doctors discovered a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) clot and an infection in her leg.

“Jeana was scheduled to get the G-tube this morning so she can get some nutrition. She hasn’t been able to eat a meal for 2 weeks, so she’s extremely depleted,” Bosworth explained on Instagram.

She continued, “We uncovered a DVT clot in her leg, and now an infection, too.”

The feeding tube procedure cannot proceed until there is clarity regarding the infection. Bosworth noted that chemotherapy and radiation are temporarily halted while they address these complications. Despite this, Keough insists she only has a “fake fever” and is ready to continue with surgery.
