Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, ignited outrage by pinning the affordability crisis on former President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party during an interview with Lara Trump.
In a segment on Fox News discussing the midterm elections, Leavitt claimed that Donald Trump acted decisively to enhance the economy upon his return to office.
She stated, "I would remind the American people of who caused the affordability crisis in this country. It was Biden and Democrats. President Trump took immediate action on day one to fix that. All these things will only get better if given two more years with a Republican congress."
Leavitt, a mother of two, also mentioned that Trump's unique relationship with his staff simplifies her role.
Her remarks triggered a wave of criticism online, with many accusing her of distorting economic realities.
One critic shot back, "Like hell Trump did, Leavitt you're a liar. Biden brought Americans back from the brink of destruction after the pandemic in 2020."
This same user continued, "Biden had the best recovery of GDP growth in history after that horrendous crisis. Trump caused the worst economy crisis after taking office from Biden; this time around it's 100x worse. Trump committed corruption, extortion, and fraud, so much more."
The critic escalated their attack, alleging, "Not to mention the sex trafficking ring Trump runs out of Mar-a-Lago for years. With all those charges still open. Trump's criminality is legendary in American history; now it's your economy America suffering again."
The post concluded with a dire warning: "It’s all Trump thievery and greed with no allies in the world. That will decimate Americans if action isn’t taken immediately. You're already in the flashing red lights; the stocks and treasury bonds are next. Not a single country worldwide trusts the Trump administration."
Another user dismissed Leavitt's claims as "laughable," asserting, "You can literally look at inflation charts. Trump made this crisis; these people are delusional."
A third commenter pointed out, "Your boss has been in office for two years now. Quit blaming Biden. If the Trump admin plans to play the Biden card this whole term, then surely Trump was responsible for the economy under Biden (until Biden fixed that) before handing over a good economy to Trump one more time so he could destroy it!
