Kate Gosselin Labels Son Collin ‘Mentally Ill’ Amid Abuse Claims and Upcoming Memoir
Kate Gosselin slammed her son Collin as “mentally ill” in a social media exchange, igniting a firestorm over his abuse allegations.

On TikTok, Kate shared a mundane update about her rescue dog, Koda. A follower expressed sympathy for her, referencing Collin’s accusations and suggesting that only parents of “mentally ill” children could understand her plight. Kate responded, “Sadly, only parents who have a mentally ill child understand!”
She continued, lamenting the difficulty of her situation and claiming that people lack the ability to comprehend her struggles unless they’ve experienced similar challenges.

Just a day earlier, another follower suggested that comments about her family should be filtered. Kate agreed, stating, “Yep! No hate or ridiculous accusations! We speak honestly and accurately and are a positive uplifting group here!”

Collin’s upcoming memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight,” is set to expose the “shocking facade” of their family. He has been vocal about his mother on social media, sharing content that hints at her distress over the book’s release.
On Instagram Stories, he called out Kate, revealing that she once wrote in her diary about praying for God to stop hitting him when he was just two years old. He emphasized the importance of using his voice to shed light on these issues as the memoir’s October release approaches.

In a separate comment, Kate dismissed Collin’s challenge for them to take lie detector tests regarding his claims that she kept him locked in the basement with zip ties. She claimed she couldn’t sue him for defamation due to her status as a public figure.
This comment referenced Collin’s previous interview where he invited Kate to take a lie detector test alongside him, asserting he had nothing to hide.

Kate is reportedly “spiraling” as the memoir’s release nears. Her daughter Madelyn has accused Collin of “physical violence and hate speech,” further complicating family dynamics.

Collin has been estranged from his sextuplet siblings and twin sisters for years. Following Kate’s divorce from Jon Gosselin in 2009, most of the Gosselin children sided with their mother.
Collin and his sister Hannah have lived with their father since 2018, although Hannah has attempted to mend her relationship with Kate. Last August, Collin shared a nostalgic message on TikTok, expressing sorrow over their separation and longing for the unity they once had.

“Born to be a team, us against the world…” he wrote alongside a childhood photo of his siblings. “Forced to do it alone, and wonder every day what our lives could’ve looked like,” he added.
