Kayleigh McEnany's Absurd Defense of U.S. Soccer Team Crushed by Brian Kilmeade
Kayleigh McEnany, former Trump White House press secretary, claimed the U.S. men’s national soccer team’s “patriotism” made up for their disastrous 4-1 loss to Belgium in the World Cup knockout stage. Brian Kilmeade didn’t hold back, immediately dismantling her argument.
On “Fox & Friends,” McEnany acknowledged the disappointment felt by Americans after the team’s early exit. “We’re competitors in the United States, we want to win, we want to win the whole thing, we want to win the World Cup,” she stated, trying to rally support.
However, she quickly pivoted to a defense of the players’ spirit, despite their lackluster performance. She pointed out that members of the four-time World Cup-winning U.S. women’s national team, including former co-captain Rapinoe, have criticized Donald Trump in the past.
Kilmeade shot back, “Err, they didn’t show up. They were absolutely awful. They did not show up.” His blunt assessment left no room for interpretation.
McEnany attempted to counter with a personal touch, saying, “But they pray and they love the flag and therefore I love them.”
Kilmeade remained unconvinced, retorting, “There’s teams praying all over the country.”
