Kelly Clarkson Rips Into Dating Scene, Defends Single Life Amidst Personal Turmoil

Kelly Clarkson slammed the dating scene during a Las Vegas residency show, unapologetically defending her single status.

“People are like, ‘Oh, why are you single?’ And I’m like, ‘First of all, there are a lot of people out here making single look real good,’” she told the audience at her “Studio Sessions” show at Caesars Palace, as captured in social media footage.

She elaborated, “And if you didn’t really understand what I meant by that, it’s like you see relationships and you’re like, ‘I am so glad I’m going home alone.’”

With a sharp wit, she added, “You know what’s not happening in my house? That s–t.”

Clarkson continued, “If you are in a relationship, the hardest part I feel like is just keeping that fire alive and still dating. And, like, still making it feel magical and not monotonous.”

The “Miss Independent” singer has kept her romantic life private since finalizing her divorce from Brandon Blackstock in 2022.

Blackstock, who shared two children with Clarkson, passed away in August 2025 at the age of 48 after a battle with melanoma.

Despite returning to “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that September, reports surfaced in January about the show's impending end.

In February, Clarkson confirmed the cancellation of her daytime talk show, expressing gratitude for the “amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons.”

She stated it was “not an easy decision” to step away and emphasized the need to prioritize her children in this next chapter of their lives.

The final episodes of her show will air this fall, while her summer Las Vegas residency is set to run through August 15.

On July 17, she released her new single, “I’d Be Lyin’.”

Before Blackstock's death, Clarkson had already addressed her reluctance to date. “Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t,” she told her Las Vegas audience in July 2025.

She remarked that dating is challenging enough without the added pressure of public scrutiny, calling it a potential “dumpster fire.”
