Kevin McCarthy Eviscerated for Hypocritical Defense of Alleged Sexual Assault
Kevin McCarthy's flippant remarks about sexual assault allegations against Graham Platner have ignited a social media inferno. “The one thing I know about Republicans, when we had a very bad candidate and found out, we didn’t vote for that person,” he declared during a Fox News segment.
McCarthy's comments drew a direct line to former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who faced his own scandal. Gaetz, once a five-time House member, withdrew from consideration for Attorney General after a House Ethics Committee investigation into sexual misconduct allegations raised red flags among Republican senators.
Critics wasted no time in calling out McCarthy's hypocrisy. They highlighted his unwavering support for Donald Trump, who has been besieged by numerous allegations of sexual misconduct and assault. Trump was found liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll, with the Supreme Court recently rejecting his attempt to overturn the $5 million verdict against him.
Trump has yet to pay Carroll, and the list of accusers continues to grow, with over two dozen women alleging sexual assault or misconduct against him, some claims dating back to the 1980s. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Adding fuel to the fire, commentators pointed to Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records tied to hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
