Lara Trump’s Independence Day Dress Flops with Major Design Blunder

Jul 05 2026

Lara Trump’s Independence Day dress is a glaring misfire, failing to accurately represent the American flag with its design flaws.

The dress, crafted by Cuban-born designer Oscar Garcia-Lopez, features the colors of the American flag—red, white, and blue—but it lacks the requisite number of stars. The vibrant red body is paired with a structured blue panel over one shoulder and a crisp white panel on the opposite side, adorned with gold star embroidery. However, the number of stars is insufficient, undermining the patriotic intent.

Oscar Garcia-Lopez shared a video of Lara in the dress on Instagram, celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday. He captioned it, “JULY 4th celebration of independence, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Feliz 4 de Julio!!!!” Despite the design error, fans lauded the dress as “patriotic.”

Comments flooded in, with one fan exclaiming, “love this dress @laraleatrump!!! You’re always so fashionable!” Another added, “Outstanding tribute to our nation and our beautiful Lara Lea.”

In recent weeks, Lara has showcased outfits inspired by the American flag colors. Just days before Independence Day, she shared a post from the Republican National Committee featuring a B-2 bomber flying over Capitol Hill at dusk.

The RNC’s post included a Ferris Wheel built for Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair on the National Mall, captioned, “It’s cool to love America.” Lara reposted it but faced backlash from social media users criticizing the RNC’s message.

Critics slammed the post with comments like, “‘it’s cool to not be a republican,’” and “Loving America includes resisting authoritarianism.” Another user pointed out the low attendance at Trump’s Freedom 250 Fair, stating, “There’s less than 109 people at Trump’s Freedom 250 ‘Fair.’”

Last month, Lara faced accusations of being a “grifter” after promoting her USA-themed activewear collection. On June 25, she posed on a green tennis umpire chair in a white tank top and matching skirt while two models wore “America Made” shirts.

While some followers praised her promotional post, others criticized her for exploiting patriotism for profit. One user remarked, “#1 Grifter family! Always selling something!” Another simply stated, “Silly. GRIFTER.”

The Lara Trump collection emphasizes a “Made in the USA” philosophy, with all items handcrafted in American factories to support local workers. The brand promotes themes of fitness, female empowerment, and patriotism.

On July 4th, Donald Trump unleashed a vitriolic message as soon as he woke up.
