Leavitt Under Fire for Flaunting Lavish Mother's Day Gift Amidst American Struggles
Karoline Leavitt is catching heat for her extravagant Mother's Day display while everyday Americans are pinching pennies. The White House press secretary, fresh off the arrival of her second child, took to Instagram on May 10 to share her day, but it didn’t go as planned.
In her first post, Leavitt shared a cozy moment with her son Niko and newborn daughter Viviana, captioning it, "Snuggles with my babies. Nothing better than this. Happy Mother’s Day to all." But the makeup-free charm quickly faded as critics honed in on her next posts.

Leavitt's wedding ring sparkled in a follow-up shot where she held her daughter's hand, accompanied by the caption, "Can’t get enough of her." However, it was the third image that ignited a firestorm. Displaying a card from her kids, the background revealed an unmistakable orange Louis Vuitton box.
With just a white heart emoji and a pleading face emoji as her caption, the backlash was swift. Critics slammed her for flaunting luxury while gas prices soar and grocery bills climb. One user on X quipped, "Nothing says 'we understand struggling Americans' quite like flexing Louis Vuitton while people can’t afford groceries and gas." Another chimed in, "She is insufferable."

As the outrage grew, one user took aim at the Trump administration, stating, "The insensitivity this administration has is second to none." Others pointed out her previous displays of wealth, including a $3,000 Hermes throw blanket in her nursery. "I guess they don’t make hearing aids to cover tone deafness?" one commenter asked, while another bluntly stated, "She is tone deaf. Period."
Leavitt’s critics didn’t hold back. "She’s a horrible person, so it tracks," one user blasted. Another questioned, "Are we really surprised?" But Leavitt didn’t stop at just Mother’s Day posts; she also honored her own mother with a heartfelt message on her feed.

"Mother’s Day with my sweet angel mama, and the first with my two babies. My heart has never been so full. There’s nothing I love more than being their mom," she wrote, seemingly oblivious to the storm brewing around her.
Wrapping up her Instagram tribute, Leavitt added, "Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mamas who make the world go around." But the comments section was flooded with criticism. "Isn’t it strange that your husband is the same age as your mom?" one troll remarked. Another asked, "Do you also think about the mothers of the children of Minab? It’s very easy for you to say," referencing the ongoing conflict in Iran.
A third user echoed the sentiment: "Happy Mother’s Day to the real heroes - To the mothers who have lost their children in senseless school shootings and to the mothers of the 168 school girls that were bombed by this administration." The backlash against Leavitt continues to grow as she navigates motherhood in the public eye amidst rising tensions and economic struggles.
