Lindsey Graham's Shocking Death: Aortic Dissection Claims Life

Jul 13 2026

Lindsey Graham's life ended due to aortic dissection stemming from arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, confirmed by a preliminary exam announced by his office.

An aortic dissection occurs when a tear forms in the inner layer of the body's primary artery, according to medical sources.

The preliminary findings emerged less than 24 hours after Graham's death was announced. Police scanner audio indicates a 911 call was made around 8:30 p.m. Saturday for an individual suffering from chest pains at Graham's Washington, D.C. residence. CPR commenced approximately 25 minutes later, with reports confirming the individual was in cardiac arrest.

On Sunday, images surfaced showing an individual resembling Graham being transported from his home to an ambulance.

Following the announcement of the Republican senator's death, numerous colleagues expressed their condolences. Former President Joe Biden remarked on their shared commitment to public service despite frequent disagreements.

Contrastingly, some reactions were far from sympathetic. Michael Fanone, a former D.C. police officer attacked during the January 6 insurrection, labeled Graham a “worthless scumbag” for his unwavering support of President Donald Trump post-insurrection.

Fanone recounted his encounter with Graham, recalling how the senator dismissed a grieving mother of a deceased police officer and refused to listen to her concerns about Trump’s role in the events of January 6. He expressed his disdain on Substack, stating, “Rest in Piss you fucking worthless scumbag. If there is a hell I hope you’re in it.”

Trump, who previously criticized Graham, referred to him as “one of the greatest people” he had ever known and labeled him “a true American Patriot.”

In the days leading up to his death, Graham had traveled to Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding sanctions against Russia aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. Trump commented on CNN that he believed Graham was not interested in resolving the war quickly.

“I wanted to see the war with Ukraine end very quickly. I think he was more into keeping it going, frankly,” Trump stated on “State of the Union.” He noted that while both he and Graham shared strong military views, their approaches differed significantly.
