Marjorie Taylor Greene Condemns GOP's $100 Billion Iran War Funding Proposal: 'Totally America Last'

Mar 16 2026

Former Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has taken a firm stance against a proposed funding package aimed at military operations in Iran, asserting that her party is misplacing priorities by focusing on foreign military expenditures while neglecting pressing domestic security concerns.

In a recent post on X, Greene highlighted that Senate Republicans are gearing up to push forward "a near $100 Billion Trump Iran WAR supplemental," all while the Senate struggles to secure funding for the Department of Homeland Security. "The Senate can't even fund Homeland Security because Republican Senators can't stop pearl clutching over the filibuster," she stated, underscoring her frustration with the current legislative gridlock.

Greene further contended that endorsing new military funding amidst unresolved domestic issues starkly contradicts the principles of the "America First" movement. "Think about how America LAST that is," she remarked. "They refuse to fund OUR Homeland Security but demand more hard-earned taxpayer dollars for Trump and Netanyahu's war against Iran. Absolutely America LAST."

This criticism arises as lawmakers in Washington grapple with financing the escalating conflict, with acting budget chief Jay Hurst estimating that approximately $11 billion was expended during just the first week of military operations.

Despite the mounting financial demands, Congress has yet to advance a supplemental funding package. Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker indicated that the proposal is still under construction and may not be presented to Capitol Hill until later this month. Even then, lawmakers anticipate that the process could extend over several weeks or even months.

Democrats have expressed apprehensions regarding the approval of additional funds without comprehensive discussions surrounding the war. Senator Cory Booker remarked to The Associated Press on Monday that Congress has exercised "no oversight whatsoever" while billions have been allocated during the initial weeks of conflict.

In recent weeks, Greene has consistently criticized the military campaign, arguing that it contradicts previous campaign pledges to avoid new foreign entanglements and warning that the conflict risks devolving into yet another regime-change initiative abroad.
