Marjorie Taylor Greene Rips Trump Administration for Not Dismissing Iran Draft: 'Not My Son, Over My Dead Body'

Mar 10 2026

Marjorie Taylor Greene, former congresswoman, unleashed her criticism on the Trump administration after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt hesitated to dismiss the possibility of a military draft in light of escalating tensions with Iran.

During an appearance on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, Leavitt faced questions regarding the fears of families concerned about U.S. troop deployments or a reinstated draft. "Mothers out there are worried that we're going to have a draft, that they're going to see their sons and daughters get involved in this," host Maria Bartiromo highlighted.

Leavitt responded by emphasizing the administration's focus on air operations while leaving other options open. "President Trump wisely does not remove options off of the table," she stated, clarifying that a draft is "not part of the current plan."

Greene took to social media to express her outrage over the exchange, stating her firm opposition to any draft. In a subsequent post, she criticized some Republicans for supporting the inclusion of women in Selective Service, declaring, "Trump and Republicans need to guarantee that there will be NO DRAFT AND NEVER DRAFT OUR DAUGHTERS."

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed similar sentiments during an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes, where he refrained from setting boundaries on military operations. "You don't tell the enemy, you don't tell the press, you don't tell anybody what your limits would be on an operation," he remarked. "We're willing to go as far as we need to in order to be successful."

The discussion around a potential draft has intensified following proposed changes in the National Defense Authorization Act aimed at automatically registering eligible men for the Selective Service System. The last time the U.S. implemented compulsory military service was in 1973, and any reinstatement would necessitate approval from both Congress and the president.

In recent weeks, Greene has consistently criticized the administration's military strategies against Iran, arguing they betray campaign promises to steer clear of new foreign conflicts. She accused Trump of straying from the "America First" agenda and cautioned that the situation could spiral into yet another regime-change war.

"This is not what we campaigned for," Greene asserted in a social media post. "We said: NO MORE FOREIGN WARS AND NO MORE REGIME CHANGE."
