Mark Hamill is in the hot seat after a provocative post featuring Donald Trump has ignited a firestorm of controversy. The 74-year-old Star Wars icon shared an AI-generated image showing Trump lying in a grave, complete with a tombstone, and a scathing caption that left many reeling.
After the White House Rapid Response team weighed in, Hamill scrambled to clarify his intentions. In a follow-up on the Bluesky app, he insisted he never wished death upon the former president. Instead, he stated, “He should live long enough to... be held accountable for his... crimes.”

Hamill’s original post included the phrase “If Only–” which he later scrubbed from the edited version. His revised message now reads, “He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore.”
The backlash was swift and fierce. Supporters and critics alike flooded social media with their takes on Hamill’s incendiary comments. One user quipped, “Your post made it to the White House and you got called out. Congratulations, well done.” Another chimed in, “They don’t like a taste of their own medicine, Mark. But it’s okay to post Biden hog tied in the back of a pickup truck. The hypocrisy with MAGA is so immature.”

On the flip side, some defended Hamill’s right to express his views. “I don’t see anything wrong. I agree with you!” one supporter declared. Another added, “Mark, you are one of the only celebrities I look up to nowadays. Keep fighting the good fight, and shrugging off illogical baseless attacks.”
Trump's team wasted no time firing back at Hamill's post. The White House Rapid Response account labeled him as “one sick individual,” claiming that such rhetoric has inspired multiple assassination attempts against the president in recent years.

This social media clash comes on the heels of a recent assassination attempt targeting Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25. Suspected gunman Cole Tomas Allen was apprehended by Secret Service after breaching security with intentions to attack the president. Gunfire erupted, but thankfully, no one was seriously injured—though one Secret Service agent required hospitalization.
Allen now faces serious charges including attempting to assassinate the president and discharging a firearm during a violent crime. The stakes are high as this drama unfolds, with Hamill at the center of a political maelstrom that shows no signs of cooling down.
