Maya Jama Set to Explode in Acting After Netflix's Jaw-Dropping Reaction

Maya Jama has left Netflix executives reeling with her performance in The Gentlemen, prompting them to seek her return for another series.

The Love Island host, 31, makes her acting debut in the second season of Guy Ritchie’s crime drama. The newly released trailer showcases her character, clad in tweeds and a flat cap, demonstrating shooting skills during a countryside hunt after arriving by helicopter at the estate of the 13th Duke of Halstead, portrayed by Theo James.

While her character's name remains under wraps, insiders suggest this role could launch a significant acting career for the popular TV figure. This comes as she prepares to conclude her ninth series of Love Island, with the ITV2 final airing soon.

A source revealed, “The Gentlemen is set to be a huge stepping stone for Maya, who delivers a rather impressive performance despite not having a major part.”

They added, “But that could all be about to change as they eye her up for another series of the show, which is already one of Netflix’s biggest hits of recent years. The US market laps up shows like The Gentlemen as they’re both sexy and quintessentially British, rather like Maya herself.”

The first season of The Gentlemen premiered on Netflix in 2024 and quickly became one of the platform's top successes. The cast includes notable names like Vinnie Jones, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Kaya Scodelario, and Daniel Ings.

The series is set against the backdrop of Halstead Manor, filmed at the historic Badminton House in Gloucestershire.

Season two is expected to hit Netflix in September.

Meanwhile, speculation swirls around Maya’s future on Love Island, with viewers questioning whether this season could mark her last after several years leading the show.

The dating series has also helped Maya gain traction with American audiences, many of whom favor the UK version over its US counterpart.

Despite her rising fame, Maya has already declined a significant TV opportunity, turning down the chance to replace Emma Willis as host of The Voice UK.

Emma Willis is reportedly stepping away from the ITV1 singing competition to take over presenting duties on Strictly Come Dancing when the BBC One series returns later this year.
