Megyn Kelly Slams Taylor Swift’s Over-the-Top Wedding: 'A Cringe-Worthy Attention Grab'
Right-wing podcaster Megyn Kelly unleashed a scathing critique of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s extravagant wedding at Madison Square Garden, calling it a blatant ploy for attention.
“It’s like, at first I really did not believe that she and he would get married at Madison Square Garden. It’s so on the nose in terms of like, attention getting, and just so gauche,” Kelly stated during her Thursday conversation with Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan.
The couple's multi-day celebration drew both admiration and backlash, shutting down streets in midtown Manhattan and reportedly costing millions. The wedding festivities kicked off on Friday and were scheduled to continue until 4 a.m. ET on Saturday, as per a city permit.
Swift’s fans, known as “Swifties,” flocked to New York City, some traveling from across the country to celebrate their idol’s nuptials. However, critics labeled the event as “tacky” and “performative.”
Callahan echoed this sentiment, describing the wedding as “like a 7-year-old’s idea of what a grand wedding,” dubbing it “Taylor’s big fat Disney wedding.”
Kelly escalated her attack on Swift, taking a jab at the Duchess of Sussex in the process. “You know, she’s got a little Meghan Markle in her, where, notwithstanding the fact that we all know who she is, she’s got to make sure she’s reminding us all she’s relevant. She’s everywhere. ‘Admire me, look at me,’” Kelly remarked. “So, yeah, it actually does kind of track.”
Callahan humorously suggested that Swift’s wedding would “be a Netflix special.”
