Newly Released Images of Dinner Shooting Suspect Surface

Before the chaos erupted outside the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, Cole Tomas Allen captured a selfie, dressed in black with ammunition visibly strapped to his body. These unsettling images emerged Wednesday, shedding light on the mindset of the California man accused of the shooting.

Included in a recent court filing, these photos form part of the government's argument against granting bail to Allen, who stands accused of targeting an event attended by prominent journalists and government officials in Washington, D.C.

Facing serious charges, Allen is implicated in attempted assassination of the president, interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a violent crime.

“Had the defendant achieved his intended outcome, he would have brought about one of the darkest days in American history,” stated Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Jones, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

The prosecutor further asserted that “the evidence of his guilt is overwhelming,” underscoring the severity of the allegations against Allen.

According to court documents, Allen took the selfie around 8:03 p.m. ET on Saturday, posing in front of his hotel room mirror. He wore a black dress shirt and slacks, with a red necktie tucked into his pants, presenting a stark contrast to the violent intentions that would soon unfold.
