Nobel Laureate and 35 Doctors Demand Trump’s Immediate Ouster as a "Clear and Present Danger"

A Nobel Prize-winning psychiatrist labels Donald Trump a "clear and present danger" to the world, joining 35 other medical professionals in a call for his removal from office. Dr. Henry David Abraham, a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine, has a history with the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.

Concerns about Trump's health have surged recently. Observations include a neck rash, swollen ankles, and a bruised hand covered with makeup. His speeches have become increasingly erratic, with signs of fatigue evident during meetings.

Dr. Abraham discussed the decision to sign the letter on The Dean Obeidallah Show on YouTube. This follows Trump's troubling behavior, including a disjointed post about Iran.

He stated, "We were witnessing with increasing alarm, the changes within the president, mentally and cognitively and emotionally, that were alarming and were suggestive of possible but very specific and disturbing mental health issues."

The letter was entered into the Congressional Record by Rhode Island Senators Whitehouse and Reed on April 30, under the title "Medical Concerns about President Donald J. Trump and His Fitness for Office."

The signatories assert that their appeal is not political but rather a medical assessment from a diverse group of professionals across party lines, backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and religions.

The letter states: "We are a group of neurologists, forensic psychiatrists, general psychiatrists, and other physicians, along with other mental health professionals, experienced in the diagnosis of cognitive disorders and in evaluating dangerousness to self and others."

It emphasizes that these experts are frequently consulted by courts and governments on national security matters.

The document notes that prior to the Fall 2024 presidential election, an assessment of Trump's mental fitness was issued, identifying serious signs of cognitive decline that warranted disqualification from office.

The signatories assert that Trump's mental state has deteriorated further since their last statement in 2024.

They warn that Trump increasingly poses a "danger to the public," despite not having been examined in person. They cite "objectively observable" indicators of his condition.

Claims include alleged cognitive function deterioration, characterized by "disorganized and tangential" speech and "rambling digressions."

Trump's controversial AI-generated image portraying him as Pope is highlighted as evidence of his "grandiose" and "delusional" beliefs, suggesting he sees himself on a divine mission.

The letter underscores Trump's role as Commander-in-Chief, noting that 5,000 nuclear warheads are at his command "solely upon his order."

The signatories conclude that Trump's behavior reflects a "rapidly worsening, reality-untethered, increasingly dangerous decline."

They assert he is a "clear and present danger" and declare him "mentally unfit" to serve as President of the United States, urging his immediate removal from office.
