Ocasio-Cortez Calls for Cory Mills' Exit from Congress

Apr 17 2026

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) made headlines Wednesday by suggesting that Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) should be the next congressman to resign, following the departures of Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) amid serious allegations of sexual misconduct.

Expressing her approval of the resignations, Ocasio-Cortez quickly turned her attention to Mills, stating, “I’m glad that Eric Swalwell is leaving. I’m glad that Tony Gonzales is leaving. Frankly, I think Cory Mills should probably be on that list as well.”

The call for Mills’ resignation comes as a House Ethics panel investigates him for multiple allegations, including sexual misconduct and dating violence. The scrutiny surrounding Mills has intensified in light of these serious claims.

In November, Lindsey Langston, a member of the Florida Republican state committee and former Miss United States pageant winner, accused Mills of making threats to release intimate videos after their breakup. She also reported that he threatened violence against any future romantic partners she might have. A judge responded by issuing a restraining order against Mills, citing “reasonable cause to believe she is in imminent danger of becoming the victim of another act of dating violence.”

Additionally, another woman who claimed to have been in a long-term relationship with Mills alleged that he assaulted her. A police report noted visible bruises on her arm at the time of the incident. However, Sarah Raviani later retracted her accusations, attributing the marks to travel-related activities instead.

The ongoing investigations and allegations surrounding Mills have raised questions about his future in Congress, as calls for accountability grow louder among his peers.
