Oscar-Winning Bardem Unleashes NSFW Rant Against Toxic Masculinity and World Leaders
Javier Bardem didn’t hold back at the Cannes Film Festival, launching a blistering, profanity-laden tirade against toxic masculinity and the world leaders who embody it. The Oscar-winning actor took aim at Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Benjamin Netanyahu, making it clear that he’s fed up with the machismo that fuels violence and oppression.
“Toxic masculinity is a product of the bad education we’ve received for ages,” Bardem declared, linking it to the themes of his latest film, “The Beloved.” At 57, hailing from Spain—a country steeped in machista culture—he’s no stranger to the issue.

“In Spain, we see violence against women as a normalized horror,” he lamented. “Two women are killed every month by their ex-partners. It’s unbelievable. We act like it’s just another statistic. Are we fucking nuts? Men think they own women, and that’s leading to murder.”
Married to fellow star Penelope Cruz, Bardem didn’t stop there. He drew parallels between this toxic mindset and the attitudes of global leaders. “Mr. Trump, Mr. Putin, Mr. Netanyahu—they all play this game of ‘my cock is bigger than yours,’ threatening war like it’s a game,” he said. “That’s toxic male behavior creating thousands of deaths.”
“We need to talk about this,” he insisted, emphasizing that his film tackles these issues head-on. He didn’t shy away from addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza, labeling the actions there as genocide—a stark reminder of the real-world consequences of unchecked masculinity.
