Paulina Porizkova Ditches Traditional White for a Mind-Bending Wedding Dress

Paulina Porizkova said “I do” — but not in bridal white.

The supermodel, 61, tied the knot with comedy writer Jeff Greenstein, 63, in Italy on July 3, donning a custom wedding dress in a color she described as “beyond color.”

Her choice to skip the traditional white gown had nothing to do with its virginal implications. Instead, it stemmed from her extensive experience in bridal fashion during her modeling career.

Porizkova graced the covers of Brides magazine multiple times in the 1980s and starred in Estée Lauder’s Beautiful fragrance campaign, wearing a veil and white gown.

For her own wedding, she enlisted House of Gilles — the New York couture atelier led by Gilles Mendel and his daughter, Chloe Mendel Corgan — to craft something distinctly personal.

“I wanted the color to be sort of a not color. Something ineffable and elusive, so you couldn’t say ‘she wore a yellow dress’ or ‘she wore a pink dress,’” she stated.

For inspiration, Porizkova referenced two iconic screen sirens: Grace Kelly’s blue gown in “To Catch a Thief” and Lauren Hutton’s Halston ensemble at the 1975 Oscars.

The unconventional choice paid off. At the reception, one guest remarked that her dress resembled a color she had seen while using recreational ketamine: “the color of element. Meaning a color that cannot be described, like water.”

The final design was both form-fitting and diaphanous, showcasing the results of Porizkova’s intensified workouts, which she ramped up “like 10 notches.” The dress flowed “like water,” another specific request she made to the designers.

Her only jewelry consisted of teardrop earrings gifted by her sons for her 60th birthday. She also added a veil and a matching fabric flower in her hair, both crafted by House of Gilles.

The groom opted for a bespoke look as well, commissioning a blue wool suit tailored for his towering 6-foot-7 frame.

The wedding took place at Villa Crespi in Orta San Giulio and marks a second marriage for both. Porizkova was previously married to Cars frontman Ric Ocasek from 1989 until their separation in 2018; he passed away in 2019 at 75.

She and Greenstein matched on a dating app in 2023 and got engaged in the Czech Republic in July 2025.
