Pop Star Shocked to Find Her Music Weaponized in Trump’s Deportation Propaganda
Olivia Rodrigo, the pop sensation, was already repulsed by the “propaganda” fueling the Trump administration’s deportation agenda before she stumbled upon a shocking revelation: her music was being weaponized in a social media post by the Department of Homeland Security.
The “Deja vu” artist expressed her disbelief and fury when she casually scrolled through her phone and found her song “All-american bitch” featured in a PSA urging immigrants to “self-deport.”
Rodrigo described the experience as a brutal one-two punch, witnessing agents chasing, tackling, and arresting individuals while her music played in the background.
“It was so deeply disturbing to see that propaganda, and the fact it was my song in there made me feel even more enraged,” she stated.
When the post first surfaced last November, the Grammy-winner wasted no time, diving into the comment section to confront the social media operators at DHS, declaring, “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.”

Despite the video remaining on the DHS Instagram account, it now plays without audio. Tapping the sound icon reveals an alert stating, “This song cannot be played because it’s currently unavailable.”
Rodrigo expressed her shame about living in a country capable of such inhumanity, stating, “What they’re doing is so awful and barbaric and cruel. I am really sad to be in a country that thinks that’s OK.”
While many artists hesitate to voice their political views in today’s divided climate, the “Vampire” singer asserted, “I think part of being an artist is sharing how you feel with other people.”
“I don’t have a political science degree, I’m not the most educated person on planet Earth, but I like to try and stay up to date on things and share how I feel,” Rodrigo explained. She had previously condemned President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown when raids struck Los Angeles last June.
“I’ve lived in LA my whole life and I’m deeply upset about these violent deportations of my neighbors under the current administration,” she posted on her Instagram story at that time. “LA simply wouldn’t exist without immigrants.”
“Treating hardworking community members with such little respect, empathy, and due process is awful,” her post continued. “I stand with the beautiful, diverse community of Los Angeles and with immigrants all across America. I stand for our right to freedom of speech and freedom to protest.”
