Rock Icon Rips Trump Over Iran Offensive: 'Witness the Chief of the Peace Board!'
Jack White unleashed a scathing critique of Donald Trump on Saturday, following the president's address to the nation regarding the recent military strikes on Iran. The White Stripes frontman took to Instagram to voice his disapproval, highlighting Trump's choice of attire—a white “USA” hat—during the announcement of the military offensive.
“Witness the chief of the ‘Peace Board,’” White quipped, alluding to Trump's initiative that aims for a “bold new approach to resolving global conflict,” despite lacking participation from several key nations. The irony was not lost on White, who pointed out the absence of support for this so-called peace effort.
In a sardonic tone, he suggested, “For the next war announcement, Donny, how about lounging with your feet on the Resolute desk while munching on a Big Mac in a velvet tracksuit?” His remarks underscored a growing frustration with the administration's approach to international relations.
White also enumerated countries that have faced Trump's aggressive rhetoric over the past year, including Venezuela, where Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured in a nighttime raid earlier this year. “Venezuela, Greenland, Iran, Cuba—what’s the difference, right?” he wrote, emphasizing the indiscriminate nature of Trump's threats.
“Don Jr. and Barron won’t be fighting or dying; it’ll just be other people’s children, so... invade and bomb away!” he added, further criticizing the disconnect between the administration's military actions and their consequences.
In a tongue-in-cheek remark, White suggested that Trump might start auctioning off spots on his “Board of Peace” for a cool $1 billion. “Can you believe Donny hasn’t snagged a real Nobel Peace Prize yet? Unfair! Maybe in his third term he’ll finally get one,” he concluded.
Other public figures have also chimed in on the military actions. Rosie O’Donnell, a long-time critic of Trump who relocated to Ireland last year, shared two screenshots on Instagram showcasing Trump’s past statements. One highlighted his claim that Kamala Harris represented “endless wars” while he was the “candidate of peace.”
“He lies only and always #impeachtrump,” O’Donnell captioned her post, echoing sentiments shared by many. Meanwhile, Carrie Coon, star of “The Gilded Age,” took to X to comment on the Pentagon's rebranding under Trump’s administration, stating, “‘Department of War.’ They weren’t kidding about that.”
