Russell Brand Mocked Over 'Painful' Piers Morgan Interview While Struggling to Find Bible Passage

Apr 25 2026

During a recent episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Russell Brand found himself at the center of online ridicule as he fumbled for a Bible passage he had previously referenced in court. The awkward moment stretched over 90 seconds, leaving viewers cringing.

Brand, now 50, is set to face trial later this year regarding serious allegations of rape and sexual assault from six women, charges he firmly denies. These accusations span from 1999 to 2009, casting a shadow over his public persona.

On Friday, April 24, while appearing on Morgan’s YouTube show, Brand was questioned about the Bible he brought to his court hearing in February. The dock officer confiscated the text after he began reading it at Southwark Crown Court.

“Can I go back to asking you a question about your Bible?” Morgan probed. “Is that the one you took into court? What was your thinking of taking it into court and you were seen looking at some passages – what were the relevant passages?”

Brand responded, “It was this from Isaiah,” but then proceeded to search through his Bible in silence for an excruciatingly long time. Morgan’s discomfort was palpable as he exchanged awkward glances with the camera.

After nearly two minutes of fruitless searching, Brand conceded defeat: “I can’t actually find the verse that I had that day but this is good enough. This is from Isaiah 12.”

The moment quickly became a target for mockery on social media. One viewer expressed their discomfort on X, stating, “This is so painful to watch. Piers Morgan asked Russell Brand to read the passages that were relevant to him when he brought his Bible into court.”

Another user labeled it “one of the most painfully awkward exchanges” of the week, while yet another lamented, “There should be a class act lawsuit against Russell Brand for making anyone suffer through this awkward moment. 2 mins of my life I will never get back.”

In the same interview, Brand reflected on his past relationship with a 16-year-old girl, acknowledging that while his actions were legal, they were “morally and spiritually wrong.” Earlier this month, he admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl when he was 30; she is not among those accusing him of crimes.

“How I feel about it, as I’ve said, is that it’s not nice to know that my actions have contributed to a person’s suffering,” he stated during the interview. “There should be, there must be, justice for that. The context in which those consensual encounters was happening was a sort of merry deluge of constant consensual activity that was very, very difficult to sometimes believe was happening, but one adjusts to those kind of conditions.”

“I would say, Piers, on a personal level, that’s wrong. It’s morally and spiritually wrong; it’s legal. It’s not a legal issue.”

Brand's trial is scheduled for October 12 at Southwark Crown Court.
