Seth Meyers Mocks Melania Trump’s Imprisonment in the White House
Seth Meyers unleashed a brutal joke about Melania Trump’s supposed confinement in the White House, mocking the ongoing renovations led by Donald Trump.
The comedian, known for his sharp critiques of the 80-year-old president, highlighted the absurdity of the situation. Trump is not just slapping on cosmetic changes like new signage and fake gold accents in the Oval Office; he’s also reinforcing the front door for security. Meyers quipped that this was to prevent Melania from making a run for it.

This jab comes on the heels of Melania being mercilessly trolled over Trump’s new ‘close companion,’ Natalie Harp.
During a July 15 episode, Meyers reported on the White House’s plans to upgrade security, specifically mentioning the fortification of the front door. “The Secret Service has begun making security-focused upgrades to fortify the White House front door,” he stated. “OK, but she’s still gonna find a way to get out,” he added, showcasing a photo of Melania.
Meyers didn’t stop there. He mimicked an imaginary conversation between Trump and Melania, saying, “How’d you get out this time?” and responding in a mock Trump voice, “The window!”

Officials confirmed that these upgrades are part of a broader security enhancement for both the presidential offices and residence. The project to secure the front door is expected to take months, with completion anticipated around mid-September.
In addition to the door fortification, Trump plans to erect more fencing around the White House, restricting pedestrian access in front of the historic building.
Despite Meyers’ biting humor about Melania being trapped, she and their son Barron have spent minimal time in the White House since Trump took office. Instead, she prefers residing at Trump properties in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida.

A May 2025 report revealed that Melania had spent less than 14 days at the White House since her husband’s inauguration in January, breaking away from traditional first lady expectations.
Trump’s extensive renovation plans also include demolishing the East Wing, which obliterated the First Lady’s offices to make way for a lavish 90,000-square-foot ballroom. This destruction sparked fierce backlash from critics who condemned Trump for imposing his extravagant tastes on a government building.
