Sheriff Country Star Michele Weaver's Shocking Pregnancy Concealment Exposed
Sheriff Country's Michele Weaver went to extreme lengths to conceal her pregnancy while filming the series.
“You all seem to love seeing clips of me hiding my belly last season… so here you go!! 😂,” Weaver posted in an Instagram video on June 10, showcasing her on set. “This is what happens when you film until 38 weeks pregnant!!!”
Weaver, portraying Cassidy, addressed her absence from recent episodes in May, stating, “People keep asking if I was written off. Nope… just had to leave to have a baby.”
She added, “I’m back next week! Don’t miss tonight’s episode! If you think you know what’s going to happen next… trust me.. you don’t.”

In an April episode, Cassidy cracked the case of her missing sister, which involved her being kidnapped by a serial killer who had evaded capture for years.
Just in time, Mickey (Morena Baccarin) rescued Cassidy. Following the ordeal, the deputy requested time off. The final scene depicted Cassidy and her mother driving away in her car, beginning their healing process.
The network confirmed Sheriff Country's renewal for a second season, with Weaver set to return as Cassidy. The cast also includes Baccarin, Christopher Gorham, Matt Lauria, and W. Earl Brown, while Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan were promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season.
Concerns about Cassidy’s storyline arise after Sheriff Country's predecessor, Fire Country, faced backlash due to budget cuts that resulted in the exits of Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila.

Showrunner Tia Napolitano commented on the situation in October 2025, stating, “It’s a fire show. Anyone can go at any time.” She emphasized the introduction of new guest cast members to bring conflict and intrigue.
Napolitano hinted at the need to balance excitement with honoring past characters. “What we’ve done is really thread the needle of honoring—especially Vince—because Gabriella is gone, but she’s gone to a happy and successful life. She’s still out there.”
She elaborated on the season's theme of recovery and resilience. “How do you recover from something like this? And we’re really going to see everybody rise to the occasion, in celebration of Vince, of his life and in honoring the sacrifice that he made.”
After her conversation with Us, news broke that Napolitano would also be leaving the show. In March, it was announced that Eric Guggenheim would take over as showrunner. Guggenheim previously served as showrunner for Magnum P.I. and co-showrunner for Hawaii Five-0.
Sheriff Country returns in fall 2026.
