Social Media Revolts Over Acting AG Todd Blanche's Eager Affection for Trump
Todd Blanche stepped into the spotlight during his inaugural press conference as acting attorney general, following Donald Trump's decision to appoint him in place of Pam Bondi.
Previously serving as Trump’s personal attorney, Blanche quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, particularly due to one eyebrow-raising remark.
In a press gaggle on Tuesday, he stated that only Trump knows the reasons behind Bondi's dismissal and asserted that the former president has both the “right” and “duty” to investigate his adversaries, “using all of the resources we can.”
However, it was Blanche’s answer to a question about his desire for a permanent AG appointment that truly unsettled many online.
“If President Trump chooses to keep me as acting, that’s an honor,” he expressed. “If he chooses to nominate me, that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate somebody else and I go back to being the DAG, that’s an honor.”
He further emphasized his loyalty by stating that if Trump selects another candidate for the attorney general position, he would respond with, “Thank you very much. I love you, sir.”
Yes, video evidence exists. And yes, it has gone viral.
While showing respect for one’s superior is expected, many found Blanche’s use of the word “love” in reference to the president unsettling and somewhat distasteful.
