Spike Lee turned down Prince Harry's handshake in a jaw-dropping moment at the New York Knicks versus San Antonio Spurs game.
The filmmaker, aged 69, was spotted at the NBA Finals Game 5 in Texas' Frost Bank Center, where the Duke of Sussex, aged 41, embraced someone in the stands before engaging with Lee.
As Harry caught Lee's attention, he approached and extended his hand. Instead of reciprocating, Lee pointed a finger at him, denying the handshake.
In a bizarre twist, Harry awkwardly placed his hand on Lee's stomach while the director refused to shake. Eventually, they did manage to shake hands while continuing their conversation.
As Harry walked away, Lee pointed to himself, seemingly questioning, "Who, me?" Harry responded with an affirmative finger point before departing.
Representatives for both Lee and Harry did not respond to requests for comment.
Speculation arose that they might have been discussing Harry's old secret Facebook account under the alias Spike Wells, a topic Lee has publicly addressed.
In 2019, Lee even sent a message to Prince William regarding this social media choice, urging him to ask his brother about it.
During a later appearance on the "Today" show, Lee stated, "I asked his brother to find out! When I know, you’ll know!"
Harry had previously posted photos with his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy on that account, rumored to be named Spike Wells as a nod to his nickname and military alias.
Neither Harry nor Lee occupied the celebrity row during this high-profile NBA matchup.
Harry made a surprise solo appearance at the game without his wife Meghan Markle and was seated in the eighth row.
