Steve McBee Surfaces for Son’s Proposal Before Prison Sentence Hits

Jul 07 2026

Steve McBee Sr. reappeared on The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, shocking fans as he prepares to serve time behind bars.

In the episode aired on July 6, Steve’s son, Cole McBee, proposed to Kacie Adkison. This moment unfolded in November 2025, just one month before Steve's prison sentence began.

Viewers spotted Steve among his sons—Steven McBee Jr., Jesse McBee, and Brayden McBee—alongside his ex-wife, Kristi McBee, all gathered to witness the proposal from a room overlooking a romantic gazebo.

At one point, Steve held his granddaughter Summer, daughter of Jesse and Alli McBee.

After Kacie said “yes,” the couple celebrated with family and friends, with Steve cheering them on enthusiastically.

He later interacted with his other granddaughter, Blair, born in December 2024 to Cole and Kacie, soaking in the family moment.

“Having all of our family and friends here, especially my dad is the best thing ever,” Cole expressed after proposing. “Life will really be changing a lot when my dad goes away and I just wanted to propose while he was still here and can enjoy this with everybody.”

Steve’s appearance was a rarity; he last appeared during season 2 at Jesse and Alli’s wedding in October 2024, which aired in September 2025.

Previously a main character in season 1, Steve left the ranch after a significant deal involving his car washes collapsed.

“We’re on our own. Dad’s leaving. All he said is, he has no idea when he’s going to be back,” Steven told his brothers in March 2024. “He said he’s not in the right mental state to be running this farm.”

While Steve stayed off-camera for most of season 2, Steven took over as CEO of the family business. Behind the scenes, Steve faced legal issues as he and the farm were under investigation.

In November 2024, Steve pleaded guilty to a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme involving federal crop insurance. He was charged with one count of federal crop insurance fraud for allegedly receiving benefits based on inflated totals from the family’s corn and soybean crops in 2018. Additional fraud allegations surfaced for 2019 and 2020.

In October 2025, Steve received a two-year prison sentence along with two years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay $4,022,124 in restitution and must self-surrender on December 1, 2025.

Although absent from the season 3 premiere in June, fans learned about his fate as his children attended his sentencing and discussed it on camera.

During the premiere, it was revealed that beyond the $4 million restitution, Steve faced an unexpected $3 million in fines.

“It’s the worst feeling I’ve ever felt. I don’t know where the $7 million is going to come from,” Cole stated on camera.

Steven echoed concerns about the financial burden, saying, “It’s the damn monetary amount that I’m very concerned [about]. December 1? That gives us what, six weeks [with him].”

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys airs on Bravo Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
