This Sex Technique Guarantees Female Satisfaction, And You Might Not Know It
The orgasm gap in heterosexual relationships is a well-documented phenomenon: women often experience fewer orgasms than their male partners. Addressing this disparity requires a deeper understanding of female pleasure, starting with an upgrade to your usual sexual repertoire.
Consider the missionary position, a staple in many couples' intimate lives. While it offers closeness and connection, experts suggest a simple adjustment can elevate the experience significantly.
Enter the coital alignment technique, or CAT. This variation involves the male partner positioning himself slightly higher during intercourse, allowing the base of the penis to stimulate the woman’s clitoris directly.
Visualize this: a study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy found that women who practiced CAT reported a 56 percent increase in orgasm frequency compared to those who did not.
Why is CAT so effective? According to Megan Fleming, a psychologist and sex therapist based in New York City, many women require clitoral stimulation to achieve orgasm. “Roughly two-thirds of women don’t have an orgasm with penetration alone,” she explained. “CAT provides the necessary direct pressure and movement that enhances clitoral stimulation.”
So, how do you master this technique? Sadie Allison, a sexologist and author of Ride ’Em Cowgirl! Sex Position Secrets for Better Bucking, offers guidance:
Begin in the traditional missionary position, placing a small pillow under the woman’s hips for support. “Once you gently enter her, shift your body up a few inches so your pelvis aligns directly over hers,” she advises. “Your chest should be closer to her shoulders rather than face-to-face. This adjustment allows your penis to create pleasurable friction against her vulva and clitoris with each thrust.”
To enhance the experience further, Allison recommends incorporating grinding movements. “While maintaining close contact, move your pelvis in small circles against her vulva,” she suggests. “Focus on her clitoris as you apply pressure, and resist the urge to pull out completely. Instead, find a rhythm that resonates with her.”
“You’ll know it’s effective when you feel her legs tightening around you, pulling you closer,” she added.
There’s an added advantage for men as well. Lori Buckley, a sex therapist and author of 21 Decisions for Great Sex and A Happy Relationship, notes that this technique can help men last longer during intercourse. “Men may find they experience less intense arousal compared to rapid thrusting,” she said.
A true win-win situation. Now it’s time to put this knowledge into practice.
