Ex-MAGA Influencer Engaged in Custody Dispute with Elon Musk Claims Right-Wing Women Are ‘Awakening’

Ashley St. Clair, an influencer embroiled in a custody dispute with tech mogul Elon Musk, has opened up about her departure from the MAGA movement, citing its treatment of women as a significant factor.

“The right has a substantial issue with the underlying sentiment against women,” St. Clair remarked during her appearance on The Bulwark Podcast with Tim Miller. “Many women from the right still reach out to me, and they are aware of the situation, particularly regarding the rhetoric directed at women. They’re not ignoring this anymore.”

She emphasized that this awakening among women will have repercussions for Republicans, stating, “It’s going to impact them, whether in the midterms or 2028. Women are realizing they’ve been manipulated, used as pawns in this fringe movement.”

St. Clair recounted her entry into the MAGA movement as a college student, where she gained traction through her “shitposting” shared by other right-wing influencers.

Reflecting on her experience, she described a “sense of belonging” within the MAGA community, which ultimately led her to leave college. Now, she expresses regret for echoing the sentiments of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who advised against pursuing education.

“There were moments of free thought, but you become so entrenched in it; your entire identity revolves around this,” St. Clair explained.

Later in the discussion, she characterized the MAGA movement as a “cult.”

“It is a cult, and you must understand that in any abusive relationship, you become isolated from others,” she stated.

St. Clair asserted that it is impossible to remain silent about current events, referencing the actions of ICE and what she deemed “egregious” attacks on free speech during Donald Trump’s presidency.

She also criticized certain women in the White House, suggesting they exhibit “a degree of psychopathy” and are resistant to leaving the MAGA fold.

“I’ve certainly lacked empathy at times due to my political involvement and the things I’ve said, but honestly, the women in the White House genuinely frighten me,” St. Clair concluded.
