TLC's Chilli Contributes to Trump's Campaign, FEC Records Reveal

Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, a prominent member of the iconic 90s music group TLC, has reportedly contributed to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, as indicated by Federal Election Commission (FEC) records.

These records detail contributions from a Rozonda Thomas residing in Stone Mountain, Georgia, an address associated with the “No Scrubs” singer. The donations amount to $210.60 directed to WinRed, the Republican campaign donation processor, alongside $340.60 to the Trump National Committee JFC and $486.54 to Never Surrender Inc., a political fundraising entity linked to Trump.

Attempts to reach TLC’s publicist for further comment have been made. This isn’t the first time Thomas has stirred controversy; in a 2017 interview, she faced backlash for her statement that “all lives matter” when discussing the Black Lives Matter movement.

The phrase “all lives matter” has been criticized as a right-wing response to BLM, often seen as dismissive of the specific issues surrounding police violence and discrimination against Black Americans. In her remarks to Channel 4 News in the UK, Thomas stated, “I personally didn't go to any marches or anything like that. For me, all lives matter, you know what I mean?”

She elaborated on her perspective: “Because there is a time when different groups are targeted for different things. So I just think that what happened, even with the police brutality against these young Black boys and stuff like that — all of that kind of stuff is wrong. Even if it was a Caucasian teen kid that this was happening to, it’s just not right.”

Thomas also suggested that better background checks and mental stability evaluations should be conducted for those in authoritative positions.

In contrast, her bandmate Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins expressed indifference towards Trump’s presidency, stating, “I don’t care about Donald Trump. I mean, God is my president. So I just feel sorry for people it affects, but I don’t care about him.”

TLC, celebrated for their 1999 hit “No Scrubs,” was formed in Atlanta in 1990. The group’s most recognized lineup included Thomas, Watkins, and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who tragically passed away in a car accident during a 2002 trip to Honduras while volunteering at a children’s development center.
