Trump Caught Napping: Fox News Cuts Live Briefing as President Appears to Doze Off
Fox News yanked its programming mid-broadcast as Donald Trump appeared to be dozing off during a live press briefing, leading to the mocking moniker "Commander-in-Sleep" among viewers.
In a clip circulating on X, Trump was seen slumped in his chair while Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum spoke. His eyes were shut for extended stretches, raising eyebrows.

Lee Zeldin's remarks included a jab at Democrats, stating, "For too long, you saw Democrats who were telling these coal miners they should just learn to code." This moment of apparent inattention came after Trump's six-day absence from the public eye.
The incident drew sharp reactions, including a tweet from Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul's press office: "Sleeping is far better than listening to Lee Zeldin talk."
The White House quickly dismissed allegations of Trump sleeping during the briefing.

This isn't an isolated incident. On May 11, Trump was also photographed with his eyes closed, prompting similar accusations. The team responded then by asserting, "His eyes are literally open in the clip you posted."
White House spokesperson David Ingle defended Trump, claiming he is "the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history," and emphasized that Trump is tirelessly working to enhance the nation.
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, previously countered claims of Trump napping during Cabinet meetings. He stated, "That's false. I've never seen him fall asleep. On the contrary, the guy doesn't sleep, which is a big problem because he calls me at two in the morning. He calls me at five in the morning. And, you know, I like to sleep a little bit."
