Trump Claims Chit-Chat with Dead President, Fox News Cuts In for the Absurd

Jul 02 2026

Fox News abruptly cut its programming for a breaking alert as Donald Trump spewed outrageous claims live from North Dakota, including a bizarre assertion about chatting with Theodore Roosevelt.

Trump, at 80 years old, delivered a confident address regarding the Panama Canal, currently under Panamanian control, while asserting that China is attempting to seize it. He ranted about Panama raising shipping prices "by six times," framing it as a dire threat to U.S. interests.

During the dedication of the Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, he stated, "We had the Panama Canal, so we gave it away. The first thing they did? Do you know what they did? They raised the prices to the ships by four times, and they didn’t lose one ship. And then they raised it again, twice, and they didn’t lose one ship." He added, "All they did is make tremendous amounts of money for years and years. How stupid is that?"

Trump insisted that "now China is trying to take over the Panama Canal, and we’re not gonna let that happen, okay?" However, he took a turn for the bizarre when he claimed to have had a personal conversation with Theodore Roosevelt about the canal.

He recounted, "I even had a conversation with Theodore Roosevelt. I said, 'What did you think about the Panama Canal, do you consider that your greatest achievement?'" He also asked, "How do you feel about the fact that the Democrats gave the Panama Canal away to Panama for one dollar?" Roosevelt passed away in 1919, long before Trump was born in 1946.

This prompted calls for invoking the 25th Amendment, which addresses presidential succession in cases of incapacity. One viewer expressed disbelief: "'I even had a conversation with a Theodore Roosevelt.' And how exactly does this not have people screaming '25th Amendment'?"

Another viewer quipped, "They had an AI generated Teddy Roosevelt and Trump spoke with 'him'." A third remarked, "This is a sick, sick man. He lies and lies and lies and thinks he is God. He had a conversation with Theodore Roosevelt he says."

Comments continued to roll in, with one stating, "In all fairness, Trump probably thought he was really speaking to Theodore Roosevelt. He’s senile." Another joked, "'Donald, is Teddy in the room with us now?'" A sixth viewer questioned, "Trump was seen interacting with an AI Teddy Roosevelt. Did he think he was real?"
