Trump Declares Democratic Socialism a Greater Menace than World Wars and 9/11

Jun 30 2026

Trump labeled democratic socialism the "biggest threat to the nation since its founding," equating it to the horrors of world wars and the September 11 attacks.

In a fiery Oval Office address, President Donald Trump condemned democratic socialist candidates, asserting their movement poses a more severe danger to the United States than any previous conflict or terrorist act.

"They use the word social democrat because it sounds so nice, but it's really communism you're talking about," Trump stated, amplifying his rhetoric against this political ideology.

"I think it's the biggest threat to our nation there is, maybe since our founding," he continued. "That includes World War I, World War II, September 11, it includes the Pearl Harbor attack."

Trump's alarm bells have been ringing since New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani took office earlier this year, marking a pivotal moment in his campaign against democratic socialism.

This was not the first time he made such claims; he reiterated them recently while promoting the Save America Act. "The House of Representatives has approved this vital Act, THREE TIMES," he wrote, criticizing the Senate's inaction amidst what he described as a powerful Communist Movement in the country.

Trump's rhetoric escalated on Friday with a lengthy post on Truth Social before arriving at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt earlier this year. He was set to speak at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual Road to Majority Conference.

Before his speech, he unleashed a nearly 350-word diatribe about the perceived rise of "communism" in America.

"I will be making, perhaps the most important of them all, concerns the recent Election of Communists in our Country. Communism is very easy to sell. I'd be the Greatest Communist in History," he claimed, suggesting that under communism, he would provide free housing and food.

He warned that such promises would lead to disaster: "Unfortunately, after two or three years, the Country where this is taking place would fail. It always does, and then you'll start living in squalor. There will be no food, there will be no housing, there will be no Military, there will be no nothing. You'll be Third World every way, and everyone will suffer or die."

Trump asserted that these candidates gain support through empty promises while criticizing the "Dumocrats" for their inability to confront them effectively.

"They're not smart enough or tough enough to fight this plague. If they fought them the way they fight Republicans, or me, they'd be victorious, but they don't have the courage to do so," he said.

He further claimed that communists threaten all faiths, particularly Christianity. "They will close your Churches, they will kill your people. This is what they're about. This is the Greatest Threat to our Country since its Founding 250 years ago!" he declared.

Trump later delivered a keynote speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual Road to Majority Conference at the same hotel where gunfire was reported during a previous event, leading to his rapid removal from the venue.
