Trump Demands Loyalty from Supreme Court Justices, Rips Barrett and Gorsuch
Donald Trump didn’t hold back on Sunday, making it crystal clear that he expects unwavering loyalty from his Supreme Court appointees. In a fiery post on Truth Social, he took aim at Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch, suggesting they owe him their allegiance for landing such prestigious positions.
“It’s really OK for them to be loyal to the person that appointed them to ‘almost’ the highest position in the land,” he declared, setting the stage for a showdown between his expectations and their actions.
Trump lamented that his justices should emulate their Democratic counterparts, who he claims never stray from the party line. “Democrat Justices always remain true to the people that honored them for that very special Nomination,” he ranted. “They don’t waver, no matter how good or bad a case may be.” Meanwhile, he accused Republican justices of trying too hard to appear independent, which he sees as a betrayal.
In a classic Trumpian twist, he later contradicted himself with his signature doublespeak: “I don’t want loyalty, but I do want and expect it for our Country.” The irony dripped as he criticized Barrett and Gorsuch for their role in a recent 6-3 decision that limited his tariff powers—his other appointee, Brett Kavanaugh, sided with him.

“They were appointed by me, and yet have hurt our Country so badly!” he fumed. The former president claimed that their ruling cost the U.S. a staggering $159 billion in refunds to companies affected by tariffs, insisting that they didn’t intend to harm the nation but did so nonetheless.
“I’m working so hard to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” he continued, expressing frustration over what he perceives as disrespect from those he handpicked. “What is the reason for this?”
Trump speculated that perhaps Barrett and Gorsuch just had “a really bad day,” but warned that the country can only endure so many poor decisions before it “breaks down and cracks.” He emphasized the need for “Good, Strong, Common Sense” in judicial rulings.
In a final jab, he claimed they would rule against birthright citizenship, labeling it an “unsustainable, unsafe, and incredibly costly DISASTER.” Yet, facts tell a different story; according to the Pew Center, numerous countries around the globe practice birthright citizenship.
