Sadiq Khan Slams Trump’s ‘Bizarre Obsession’ with Him
London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, isn’t holding back. He’s labeled Donald Trump’s fixation on him as “absurd,” claiming the U.S. president has been mentally renting space in his head for a decade.
In a candid chat with Big Issue magazine, Khan declared that London stands as the “antithesis” of everything Trump embodies. “It’s absurd that President Trump is obsessed with me,” he quipped, emphasizing the stark ideological divide.
“Objectively speaking, he’s a nativist. A protectionist. A unilateralist. He believes in mono-ethnicism and the superiority of his religion, Christianity, and of Americans,” Khan fired back, painting a vivid picture of Trump’s worldview.
In sharp contrast, Khan touted London as “progressive, liberal, diverse, multicultural—the greatest city in the world.” He made it clear: “We are the antithesis of all he believes in.”
He speculated that Trump’s need to “spread disinformation about this dystopian version of London” is rooted in the fact that Londoners elected “this guy who’s a Muslim of Pakistani origin.”

Khan didn’t stop there; he raised alarms about the broader implications of Trump’s rhetoric, stating: “The problem is, he’s brought into the mainstream views that should be in the periphery.”
Back in December, Trump unleashed a tirade against Khan, labeling him a “horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor” while criticizing UK immigration policies.
In an extraordinary interview, Trump singled out Khan as a “disaster,” claiming he has done a “terrible job.” He remarked on Khan’s election: “He gets elected because so many people have come in [to the UK]. They vote for him now.”
“He’s a horrible mayor. He’s an incompetent mayor, but he’s a horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job. London’s a different place. I love London. I love London. And I hate to see it happen,” Trump lamented.
This isn’t the first time Trump has targeted Khan; their feud ignited back in 2015 when Khan condemned Trump’s proposed Muslim travel ban during his presidential campaign.
