“TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” That’s how President Donald Trump described Iran’s reaction to the latest peace proposal from the White House, but he didn’t stop there. He took a moment to unleash a tirade against former President Barack Obama, blaming him for a decades-old arms deal that went belly up.
On Sunday, Trump vented on Truth Social, accusing Iran of “playing games” with the U.S. since the fall of the Shah in 1979. “DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!” he shouted, claiming that if his administration has the final say, Iran will be “laughing no longer.”
In his fiery post, Trump claimed that Iran “finally hit ‘pay dirt’” thanks to Obama, who brokered the now-defunct Iran Nuclear Deal in 2015 with a coalition of global powers. “He was not only good to them; he was great,” Trump raged, alleging that Obama abandoned Israel and other allies while giving Iran a powerful lifeline.
Trump’s claims escalated as he accused the Obama administration of handing over billions in cash to Tehran on a “silver platter” back in 2016. This was supposedly part of a settlement for a $400 million arms deal that fell through during the Iranian Revolution and the release of frozen Iranian funds due to sanctions.
“Iranian Thugs had no idea what to do with it,” Trump exclaimed, describing how the cash was unloaded from planes in “suitcases and satchels.”
Continuing his assault on Obama, Trump declared that Iran had “finally found the greatest SUCKER of them all, in the form of a weak and stupid American President.”
“He was a disaster as our ‘Leader,’ but not as bad as Sleepy Joe Biden!” Trump added, taking a jab at his political rival.
In his post, Trump accused Iranian leaders of dragging the U.S. along for decades, “keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs,” and “wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors.” He concluded with a defiant promise: “They will be laughing no longer!”
