Trump Erupts at Senator for Missing Vote—But He Wasn't Even There
President Donald Trump exploded at a Republican senator for allegedly missing a vote on a war powers resolution, but the senator was actually at a rally with Trump during that time.
In a closed-door meeting with GOP lawmakers, Trump targeted Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) after canceling the signing of a bipartisan housing bill. Sources revealed this explosive confrontation to MS NOW congressional reporter Mychael Schnell.
Schnell pointed out on X that McCormick was present at a Pennsylvania rally, making his absence from the Capitol irrelevant. Even if he had been there, the resolution would have passed due to Mitch McConnell's absence.
Reports surfaced that Trump also lashed out at Republican senators who sided with Democrats to pass the war resolution, which mandates the removal of military forces from the conflict with Iran.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who recently lost a primary election to a Trump-backed candidate, recounted his tense exchange with the president after the meeting.

“I stood and said, ‘You have not told the American people what’s going on,’” Cassidy stated. “This is supposed to last four weeks. It’s lasted four months. Our original objectives have not been achieved.”
The situation escalated further as Cassidy insisted he would keep voting in favor of war powers resolutions until Congress received a proper briefing from the White House. He noted that Trump “did not particularly care for my comments” and “raised his voice.”
Trump reportedly told Cassidy to sit down, labeling him a “lunatic,” according to a person familiar with the meeting.
Cassidy later admitted to reporters that his remarks during the meeting were “not appropriate.”
“But I again matched his tone and volume,” Cassidy explained. “And so I sat down and tried to de-escalate. I guess my point is, though, that the American people need to know more than we’re being told.”
